About the role

We are seeking an experienced Sushi Chef to join our team at Fat Buoy Lobster' in South Yarra, VIC. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and crafting high-quality, authentic sushi and sashimi . This is a full-time role and will involve working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

What you'll be doing

Preparing and presenting a wide variety of sushi,sashimi and nigiri’s

Ensuring strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards

Collaborating with the team to create new and improved offerings

Providing exceptional customer service and maintaining a positive, professional attitude

Mentoring and training junior chefs to develop their sushi-making skills

Maintaining a clean, organised and well-stocked sushi preparation area

What we're looking for

Minimum 1 years' experience as a Sushi Chef in a reputable restaurant or hotel

Formal training in Japanese cuisine and sushi-making techniques

Strong knife skills and an eye for detail to ensure consistent, high-quality sushi presentation

Knowledge of traditional Japanese flavours, ingredients and food safety practices

Excellent time management and multitasking abilities to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Passion for creating delicious, visually appealing sushi dishes

Positive attitude, strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
