The Department:
This large Commonwealth department supports Australia’s primary industries, biosecurity and environmental management. Their People, Property and Security Division plays a key role in building a safe, capable and inclusive workforce across Australia.

The Role:
As the WHS Project Lead, you’ll join the WHS team responsible for driving national safety initiatives and developing the department’s WHS management system. There are several emerging and existing projects underway and a big agenda upcoming.

This is an APS6 level position is available as a 6 to 12-month non-ongoing contract or transfer opportunity and can be based in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth or Canberra.


Duties:

• Undertake research and analysis to strengthen WHS governance, assurance and compliance.
• Prepare high-quality papers, briefs and guidance for senior leadership.
• Contribute to the continual improvement of the safety management system.
• Liaise with stakeholders and provide expert advice on WHS strategy and processes.

Skills and Experience:

• Tertiary qualifications and/or experience in Work Health and Safety.
• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, codes and standards.
• Excellent analytical, research and written communication skills.
• Experience developing and implementing WHS frameworks or systems.
