Meeting this challenge will require the officer to develop and maintain relevant knowledge and skills and keep abreast of developments in and requirements from the ARMIS database suite and other Departmental applications. The position has day-to-day operational autonomy for updating the information in the systems delegated to the position and preparing reports to meet business needs. The position predominantly works on the ARMIS.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Liaise with supervisor, colleagues and clients to determine the road information needs to be met from the road information systems delegated to this position.
• Assist the Program Support Coordinator (RIS) with implementation and operation of the Road Management Information System and develop a program of work to ensure the maintenance, updating and reporting from the systems meet both regional and corporate requirements.
• Update, maintain and improve database information by interpreting Design and As-constructed plans for roadworks, bridges and other utilities. Use road information interpretation skills and infrastructure asset knowledge to undertake site inspections to confirm data.
• Critically assess and audit the validity of data (both currency and accuracy) entered into and reported from the systems and solve data inaccuracy problems.
• Read and interpret technical and engineering documents and plans to analyse, interpret and report complex road information using a range of reporting tools (eg complex system reports, spreadsheets, charts and maps using MapInfo, ARMIS, GIS etc).
• Use understanding of construction and design plans, design principals, spatial knowledge and basic construction processes to liaise with designers, engineers and other staff to ensure the most current information is accurately interpreted and entered into the systems.
• Provide information translations, technical interpretation advice, support and one-on-one training to other officers interpreting information from the Systems.
• Using data analysis skills, provide technical interpretation advice, support and one-on-one training to officers using information from the Systems.
• Develop and maintain knowledge and skills to keep abreast of new system releases and enhancements.
• A general understanding of road infrastructure construction and design plans and spatial knowledge
Mandatory qualifications and conditions
• Current holder of a Class C driver's licence
Desirable qualifications and conditions
• Exposure to and/or experience with database and/or asset information systems would be highly regarded.
• Exposure to and/or experience in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings and terminology would be highly regarded.
