Be Bold. Belong. Be More.

At Southern Cross University, we do things differently, and so can you.

A career with us is more than you might expect. Yes, it’s about the heart, connectedness and community you’d hope for in a regional university. But there’s also so much more. Our game changing Southern Cross Model brings a deeper, focused learning experience and our research is deeply connected to our regions, making a difference on a global scale. This is your chance to help us build something new and meaningful for our students, our communities and your career. To drive change, make a real impact, and thrive in a place as unique as you.

You can be good anywhere. Here, you can be great.

Your opportunity

As a Learning Adviser in the Student Support and Success team, you’ll play a vital role helping Southern Cross students reach their full potential. You’ll provide individual one-on-one learning support, develop practical learning resources, and collaborate with colleagues to enhance student learning outcomes. Working closely in an already established highly skilled and harmonious team, you’ll support students across all disciplines to strengthen their academic skills, improve assessment outcomes, and engage fully with the Southern Cross Model.

You will make an impact by:

  • Providing one-on-one and small-group learning support to students across diverse disciplines.
  • Designing and delivering engaging workshops, resources, and online learning tools.
  • Using learning analytics to identify student needs and target support effectively.
  • Collaborating with academic and professional colleagues to embed learning support into units.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and special projects that enhance student success and engagement.

What you will bring

You’re passionate about supporting students to succeed in higher education. You understand how universities work, thrive in fast-paced environments, and enjoy working both autonomously and collaboratively within a high-performing team.

To succeed in this role, you will also need:

  • A degree with relevant experience in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Mathematics, or another related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering effective learning development programs and unit embedded learning support resources in a higher education environment.
  • Strong understanding of student learning needs and referral pathways, with experience developing online academic resources and using learning analytics to inform support strategies.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills, and the ability to manage multiple student interactions, projects and priorities effectively.

It’s not essential, but we’d love it if you also bring experience as a tutor, marker or lecturer in higher education.
