Why Your Role Matters

The Student Accommodation Applications & Operations Coordinator (internally titled Accommodation Services Officer) plays a vital role in delivering an exceptional experience to current and future students. Working within the Pro Vice-Chancellor Education & Student Experience portfolio – Wellbeing pillar – this role ensures smooth, efficient, and high-quality service across all UNSW Accommodation residences.

With over 5,000 applications received annually and limited bed availability, this role is essential in reviewing and processing student accommodation applications, while balancing high-volume enquiries and managing expectations with care and professionalism.

You’ll work closely with the wider UNSW Accommodation team, internal service units, and external providers to support key operational functions. This includes:

Reviewing and managing applications in the StarRez system

Coordinating the check-in and check-out process

Supporting front desk operations

Conducting room inspections and liaising with residents

Managing bookings, maintenance coordination, and casual staff onboarding

We are looking for someone who is customer service centric, who is aligned with UNSW’s vision and comes with:

Advanced level of computer literacy, with excellent skills in resident management systems (e.g. StarRez) ideally, asset management systems (e.g. Archibus), and Microsoft Office applications and databases.

We expect the successful candidate to work at least 4 days on campus with the option to occasionally work one day from home. The role operates Monday to Friday, 9 to 5. We have an annual shutdown from the 22nd of December until the 5th of January, during which the successful person will be required to take leave.
