Assistant Farm Manager – Broadacre Cropping & Operations

We are currently seeking a hands-on and experienced Assistant Farm Manager to join our well-established broadacre farming operation, located in the beautiful Wellstead area. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong cropping knowledge, competent machinery skills, particularly with boom spray operation and practical livestock handling skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the planning and execution of broadacre cropping programs

Operate and maintain a wide range of farm machinery including tractors, seeders, and harvesters

Competently operate seeding and harvesting equipment, with a strong focus on boom spray equipment, ensuring safe and efficient chemical application

Coordinate the centre pivot irrigation project

Support daily farming operations including staff coordination, record-keeping, and crop monitoring

Work closely with the Farm Manager to meet production goals and seasonal targets

Support with livestock management when required including feeding, mustering, animal health checks, and yard work

Requirements:

Extensive experience in broadacre cropping

Proven ability to operate and maintain modern farm machinery

Proven ability to operate and maintain a centre pivot irrigation system

Skilled in boom spraying and chemical handling (ChemCert preferred)

Mechanically minded with a practical, can-do attitude

Strong communication, problem solving and time management skills

HC License (HR/MC desirable)
