About the role
As a Disability Support Officer, you will provide specialist clinical advice and recommendations to support financial administration for customers with disability-related needs. This unique consultancy role combines professional expertise and person-centred practice to ensure that appropriate financial decisions are made on behalf of Queensland Public Trustee (QPT) customers, aligning with their individual circumstances and goals.
Your work will involve:
· Working collaboratively with customers, families, guardians and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to assess disability-related needs.
· Providing recommendations regarding medical and allied health care, accommodation, care services and home or vehicle modifications.
· Providing clinical advice to QPT staff and contributes to the development of policies and practices that support effective, ethical, and equitable financial decision-making for our customers.

About you
You are a qualified and compassionate allied health professional who thrives in a role where clinical expertise is used to advocate for the best interests of others. You are driven by a commitment to ethical practice, collaboration, and achieving positive outcomes for customers with complex needs.
To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate:
Strong clinical assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to provide informed recommendations on disability-related financial matters.
Experience working with individuals with complex or multiple disabilities, including acquired brain injury, psychiatric conditions, dementia, and intellectual disability.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage challenging situations and build trust with diverse stakeholders.
Sound understanding of disability and health sector funding frameworks, including the NDIS and other government programs.
A proactive approach, sound judgement, and a commitment to upholding ethical and professional standards.
Mandatory requirements:
A degree in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, or equivalent with current AHPRA registration.
A current C class driver’s licence.
While not mandatory, experience in clinical report writing, complex case management, and knowledge of assistive technology, home modifications, and care planning will be highly regarded.
