Position Overview

Carpenters play a vital role in the factory-based construction and assembly of modular building components at Marathon’s Singleton manufacturing facility. This position requires hands-on carpentry expertise, strong teamwork, and a dedication to safety and quality.

You’ll work within a dynamic manufacturing team to deliver modular structures that meet Marathon’s high standards of accuracy, craftsmanship, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
Carpentry and Assembly

Construct and assemble modular building elements in line with specifications and design drawings.

Install structural framing, walls, cladding, fixtures, doors, and windows.

Undertake both rough and finish carpentry tasks with precision and craftsmanship.

Collaborate with other trades (electrical, plumbing, painting, etc.) to ensure seamless sequencing and high-quality finishes.

Factory Production and General Labour

Safely operate and maintain a range of hand, pneumatic, and power tools.

Assist with material handling, loading, and assembly preparation.

Participate in the setup and dismantling of work areas and production lines.

Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and efficiency across the factory floor.

Quality Control

Inspect completed components for alignment, fit, and finish.

Identify and report defects or inconsistencies promptly.

Uphold Marathon’s production standards for quality and durability.

Safety and Compliance

Adhere to all WHS procedures and site safety requirements.

Use PPE and follow safe work practices at all times.

Report hazards and contribute to continuous safety improvement.

Team Collaboration

Work collaboratively with the Factory Manager, Foreman, and trade team.

Communicate effectively to meet production targets and deadlines.

Contribute positively to team culture and morale.

Continuous Improvement

Support innovation and process improvement on the factory floor.

Provide feedback on methods, materials, and workflow efficiency.

Represent Marathon’s core values in all actions and interactions.

Skills and Experience
Essential

Qualified Carpenter (Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent).

Proven experience in modular or prefabricated construction environments.

Strong understanding of building methods, plans, and materials.

High attention to detail, precision, and workmanship.

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings accurately.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.

Desirable

Experience with commercial or educational modular projects.

Forklift or EWP licence.

Familiarity with lean manufacturing or factory production systems.
