Expression of Interest – Bridge & Wharf Carpenters (Marine Construction)
M&J Marine Services | Port Stephens, NSW
Full-time & Casual Opportunities | $40 – $45 per hour
About Us
We’re M&J Marine Services, a family-owned marine and civil construction contractor based in Port Stephens. Since 2018, we’ve been building and maintaining NSW’s waterfronts — from private jetties and pontoons to piling, formwork, and structural repairs on marine and coastal assets.
We’re known for taking on jobs that most walk past — the kind that demand skill, pride, and a bit of old-fashioned problem-solving.
Our values are simple:
Quality – Do it once, do it right.
Integrity – Be upfront and accountable.
Respect – For clients, your crew, and yourself.
Solutions – Find a way, even when it’s not in the manual.
We’re building up our crew for upcoming residential and small civil marine projects through summer and beyond — and we’re looking for carpenters with the right skills and mindset to join the team.
About the Role
We’re chasing qualified Carpenters (especially those with bridge and wharf, formwork, or marine carpentry backgrounds) to join our marine construction crew.
You’ll be working across:
Jetty and pontoon builds
Marine piling
Formwork and concrete work
Timber, steel, and composite installation
Repairs and maintenance of marine structures
It’s hands-on work, outdoors, and team-focused — perfect for tradespeople who like to see what they’ve built standing proud at the end of the job.
About You
You’ll be right for this if you:
Are a qualified Carpenter or have experience in bridge/wharf carpentry, formwork, or marine construction
Enjoy hands-on work and practical problem-solving
Are reliable, safety-minded, and take pride in your workmanship
Don’t mind early starts and travel within NSW
Hold a White Card and Driver’s Licence
Bonus if you’ve got or are working toward:
Dogging or Rigging ticket
Coxswain Grade 2 (or higher)
HR Licence
C6 Crane
Why Work With Us
Variety – Every project’s different — from residential jetties to civil infrastructure.
Growth – Training, ticket support, and a chance to learn the marine side of construction.
Culture – No egos, just good people who get the job done.
Standards – We take pride in doing things properly — safety and quality first.
Pay – Competitive rates under the Building & Construction General On-site Award ($40–$45/hr + super).
