About the role
Want to work while studying to deepen understandings about the history of Sydney’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities?
The City is seeking a passionate and committed person for up to 2 years to join the History Team as an Aboriginal History Cadet. The cadet will work part-time or full-time while being supported to complete a university qualification. The Aboriginal History Cadetship lets you gain hands-on experience while completing your university qualifications.
What you’ll do:
Provide well-researched historical information and content about Sydney’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, to deliver education and awareness initiatives
Respond to historical enquiries and contribute to the creation of content for the City’s websites, oral histories, exhibitions and self-guided walking tours
Assist in the delivery of educational and public programs and exhibitions

Who can apply?
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students enrolled in History, Museum Studies, Heritage Studies, Archaeology, Fine Arts or Anthropology in their penultimate or final year of study.

For full-time employment, this role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.
