Our Consumer Energy Division is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Correspondence Officer to drive the provision of critical advice to senior leadership, including the Minister’s Office. This role provides critical leadership to support the successful provision of the Division’s high volume workload in this space and would be well suited to an experienced Government professional.

  • Manage a small team of staff in the Office of the Executive Director to provide high-quality executive and ministerial support services to the Executive Director and Energy Division, including coordination, communication and reporting.
  • Drive the provision of high quality written materials in an essential Government portfolio.
  • Coordinate improved reporting, tracking and planning processes to ensure the Division’s KPIs are met across the Ministerial support space.
  • Research, prepare and coordinate responses in final form for Ministerial or executive review, including correspondence, briefing materials, parliamentary documents, reports, and ministerial events and meeting packages. Ensure documents are complete, accurate, timely, consistent with protocols and standards, ensuring the best advice is provided to leadership.
  • Maintain a strategic overview of emerging issues that may impact the Division by monitoring and assessing issues and evaluating their impact to predict potentially controversial or politically sensitive issues that arise.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships with key internal and external contacts to ensure advice and communication is timely; facilitate opportunities for project engagement, consultation, and information sharing; and to seek input into emerging issues and trends which may impact on organisational priorities.
  • Develop and manage key messages database in consultation with the program and the marketing and communications team for division-wide information management.
  • Work collaboratively within business units to coordinate and facilitate working groups and consulting stakeholders to exchange information and develop resources to support internal communications initiatives.

About You

You are a focused and dynamic professional with strong experience in the Government space, demonstrated writing skills. You are able to meet demanding timeframes for high quality advice, and drive whole of Division improvements around these requirements. You work collaboratively across a complex business area and can provide advice and guidance to a range of internal stakeholders. You can operate in a high-volume work environment with competing demands, multiple priorities, strict deadlines and changing parameters. You bring:

  • Extensive experience in drafting, reviewing, and managing official Government correspondence, documentation and briefings, ensuring all communications are clear, accurate, and adhere to the Division’s standards and policies.
  • Experience in a high-volume work environment with demonstrated history of delivering responses at tight timeframes.
  • Experience providing high-level advice and support on complex or controversial issues at the Ministerial and senior executive level.
  • Sound understanding of the machinery of government, the policy process and relevant legislation.
  • Essential skills in the strategic coordination of advice and products to ensure tight KPIs are met, while providing consistent and proactive support to senior leadership.
