The University Club is located on the banks of the Swan River on the heritage-listed grounds of The University of Western Australia. The Club has over 4500 members, multiple function rooms, a fine dining restaurant and café. The University Club also manages University Theatres which has seven theatre spaces across the UWA campus.
A newly created role is available for an experienced and professional Assistant Accountant in our Finance Team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Assistant Accountant will be responsible for:
Maintaining supplier master data and ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements,
Preparing weekly and monthly payment AP runs, ensuring timely payment to suppliers and service providers,
Reconciling supplier statements and follow up on outstanding credits or issues,
Processing sales invoices,
Supporting inventory and cost accounting by maintaining accurate records including stock takes, variance management, requisitions and journals,
Performing regular bank and POS reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies,
Assisting with managing the full-cycle payroll process on a fortnightly basis,
Month End Accruals and journals,
Balance Sheet reconciliations,
Preparing financial reports and statements, and
Ad hoc Project work.
To be considered, you must possess:
A Tertiary Qualification in Accounting, Finance or related field,
A minimum of three years’ experience in an account support or assistant accountant role,
Solid understanding of AR/AP processors,
The ability to build relationships across all operations,
Strong problem-solving and reconciling abilities, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy in financial data management,
Self-motivation and be eager to contribute to the team, with a proactive approach to identifying process improvements and efficiencies, and
Proficiency in accounting software / packages and excellent proficiency in Microsoft suite.
