As Accounts Assistant, you'll play a key role in supporting day-to-day finance operations. You'll work closely with the accountant to maintain compliant records, assist with reconciliations, and contribute to transparent reporting. This role suits someone detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to grow their skills in a collaborative, purpose-led environment.
Key responsibilities include:
Payroll:
Deliver end-to-end fortnightly payroll including verifying timekeeping records and travel allowances. Resolve any discrepancies with employees.
Act as the main point of contact for all payroll related queries.
Record employee and payroll data in accounting system (Deputy and MYOB) verifying the amount prior to processing.
Experience with Deputy payroll software is preferred but not required.
Record and escalate payroll related complaints or queries to HR.
Maintain compliance on payroll procedures and documentation.
Process terminations in line with legislative requirements.
Action calculations, adjustments, ad hoc pay runs.
Recode salary allocation if /when required.
End to end superannuation payment process.
Ensure data accuracy for new starters and existing records.
Ad-hoc duties within employee's capabilities as directed by the accountant.
Provide support by analysing financial records to identify and resolve errors or discrepancies.
Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliation to ensure accuracy of data and payments.
Process AR and grant related invoices in a timely manner, chase outstanding debt invoices.
Prepare and post month end journals including depreciation, prepayment and internal recharge.
Process inter-company invoices and bills on a regular basis.
Prepare monthly IAS and quarterly BAS.
Maintain and update the fixed asset register.
Contribute to insurance-related questionnaire and compliance activities.
Support the accountant with year-end closing and preparation of financial reports.
Selection Criteria:
Diploma of accounting or bachelor's in accounting or business administration.
MYOB advanced experience.
Strong attention to detail
2 to 3 years payroll or assistant accountant experience
Either payroll or assistant accounting experience is acceptable to meet the experience requirements.
Intermediate level of MS Outlook, Excel and Word
Successful candidates will be subject to a variety of background checks including a national criminal history check, reference checks and, if applicable, WWCC.
