About the Opportunity
Headspace now has an exciting opportunity for a Psychologist, Mental Health Nurse, Mental Health Occupational Therapist or a Social Worker to join their team as a Youth Mental Health Professional. This role is being offered on a full time (fixed-term Mid-November 2025 - June 2026) role and is based in Broome, WA.
Reporting to the Headspace Broome Senior Manager, this role will be responsible for providing youth focused mental health services to young people aged 12 to 25 years who have been clinically diagnosed with a mental health disorder, or may be at risk of developing a mental health disorder and would benefit from the services offered through Headspace Broome.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
- Providing short-term, focused therapeutic interventions, psycho-education, support and advocacy to young people and their families;
- Conducting screening of young people to identify individuals with mental health or drug and alcohol problems, or young people who may be at risk;
- Providing supervision, support and consultation to the Headspace clinical team and other service providers at Headspace Broome;
- Leading the clinical intake and reviewing processes of the service; and
- Providing skills training to young people, including coping skills, life skills, anger management, problem-solving and conflict resolution.
What you need to succeed
To be considered for this position you will hold tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Nursing, Social Work and/or Occupational Therapy with proven experience delivering evidence-based interventions such as narrative therapy or cognitive behavioural therapy.
You will demonstrate a broad understanding of mental health issues as they relate to youth and have the ability to lead a multidisciplinary team, including the provision of clinical supervision, case load review and effective facilitation of clinical review. Importantly, you will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in the ability to relate to, connect and engage with youth in the 12-25 years age bracket, in a culturally appropriate manner.
The ideal candidate will also possess:
- “C” Class drivers licence;
- National Police Clearance, and;
- Working with Children Check.

In return for your hard work and dedication, you will be rewarded with:
Attractive Salary Package ranging from $103,000 to $120,769 per annum pro rata.
This package range includes:
- Base salary $103,409 per annum pro rata
- Electricity allowance $1,440
- Accommodation allowance $13,000
- District allowance $2,920 (Single) or $5,840 (Double)
In addition to the above mentioned package KAMS offers:
- Generous salary packaging benefits of up to $30,000

KAMSC (Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Council) is a regional Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS), providing a collective voice for a network of member ACCHS from towns and remote communities across the Kimberley region of Western Australia.
The Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) was the first Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) established in the Kimberley in 1978, and was followed by the East Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Service (EKAMS, in Kununurra) in 1984. The vision for a unified voice, to provide centralised resources and collective advocacy for the sector, achieved reality in 1986 with the establishment of KAMSC.
