Where you'll be working
The Cardiac Rehabilitation (CR) service at Sutherland Hospital provides a recovery program for cardiac patients recently discharged from hospital following a Myocardial Infarction, revascularisation, or heart surgery etc. The CR staff liaise closely with cardiology staff across Yarrabee, the Coronary Care Unit and the Sutherland Heart Clinic for patient referrals and ongoing staff education.

The Clinical Nurse Consultant Cardiac Rehabilitation is a Registered Nurse who has responsibility for ensuring the highest standard of care, support and education is achieved for Cardiac Rehabilitation patients. Cardiac Rehabilitation provides a recovery program for cardiology patients. Key components of the role include providing high level nursing consultancy and coordination of the wider team Cardiac Rehabilitation multidisciplinary team to maximise patient recovery.
Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2 means: A Registered Nurse appointed as such to a position approved by the Health Service, who has at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field. In addition the employee must have approved post graduate qualifications relevant to the field in which he/she is appointed to or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the Health Service. An employer may also require a higher qualification in the specialist field where such qualification is considered essential for the performance of the individual position.

Selection Criteria:
1. Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia, and current Drivers License and willingness to utilise as required for the position.
2. Minimum five years full time equivalent post qualification experience, with at least three years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field and an approved post graduate qualifications relevant to the field of practice.
3. Demonstrated ability to apply clinical expertise in a consultancy role and the ability to work independently.
4. Proven clinical leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice.
5. Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of advanced evidenced based nursing care
6. Demonstrated experience in leading and implementing change, and developing direction in clinical practice by initiation, utilisation, review and translation of evidence-based research into practice, within a person-centred framework
7. Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, advanced computer skills and use of software programs to analyse data and produce reports
8. Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic and clinical service planning
