What you'll be doing
As the Clinical Nurse Consultant – Aboriginal Community Supportive and Palliative Care, you will lead and deliver expert clinical services that ensure culturally respectful care for Aboriginal people and their families throughout the palliative care journey.

Provide advanced clinical assessment, care planning, and consultancy services

Develop and implement strategies to improve Aboriginal palliative care across WSLHD

Lead education programs to build cultural competency and clinical excellence

Drive research and evidence-based practice to enhance service delivery

Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to support integrated care

Essential Criteria:

Qualification: approved postgraduate nursing qualifications relevant to the field or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by WSLHD

Registration: Current Registered Nurse Division 1 with the Australian Health Regulation Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

Licence: Current NSW Class C driver’s license and willingness to use for work purposes.

Selection Criteria:

This is an Identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and being accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.

Current Registered Nurse Division 1 with the Australian Health Regulation Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with a minimum of 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field.

Demonstrated understanding of the issues and health needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and families and experience in working with Aboriginal communities including demonstrated ability to work with consumers, families and carers in a time of high levels of family stress.

Demonstrated ability to implement changes and develop direction in clinical practice by the initiation, utilisation and review of evidence-based research.

Experience with contributing to strategic and clinical service planning and the management of organisational and cultural change.

Demonstrated high level advanced communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and proven ability to write for a variety of documents and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary framework within ICH and the LHD, and with other service providers.

Proven advanced skills in clinical teaching, competency in the use of contemporary information systems and evidence of the ability to develop, implement and evaluate specialty education programs.
