AboutARDS Aboriginal Corporation
ARDS Aboriginal Corporation is a Yolŋu organisation specialising in cross-cultural communication, community development and creative media. ARDS has been working in Northeast Arnhem Land for nearly 50 years, putting Yolŋu languages, perspectives, skills and decision-making at the centre of its work.
ARDS aims to ‘bridge the gap’ between mainstream services and information, and the information and service delivery approaches that YolÅ‹u communities want and need.
About the Opportunity
Note: This position has the option to be based in either Darwin or Nhulunbuy
As the CCT Program Lead, you will play a central role in delivering and growing ARDS’ Northeast Arnhem Cultural Competency Training program. You will work alongside YolÅ‹u co-facilitators to design and deliver engaging training that builds understanding between Indigenous and non-Indigenous worldviews.
You’ll coordinate with clients to ensure a smooth and professional experience, maintain and update training materials to keep them relevant, and support ARDS staff to become confident co-facilitators. This role is both strategic and hands-on, offering the opportunity to shape the future of cultural competency training in the region while working in a deeply collaborative and culturally rich environment.
About You
You are someone who brings deep cultural knowledge and lived experience of Northeast Arnhem Land. You speak YolÅ‹u Matha and have a strong understanding of YolÅ‹u culture, language, and community life. You’re confident working across cultures and have a genuine commitment to building respectful, reflective relationships with both YolÅ‹u and Balanda colleagues.
You’re self-motivated, organised, and capable of managing projects independently, while also being a flexible and collaborative team player. You have experience in group facilitation and adult education, and you understand the principles of intercultural learning and community development. You’re comfortable using plain English and digital tools to communicate clearly and effectively, and you’re excited to help others grow through culturally competent training.
Whether you’re based in Darwin or Nhulunbuy, you’re willing to travel to remote communities and bring your skills and passion to a role that makes a real difference.
