About the Opportunity

AMSANT is seeking a full-time Human Resources Manager to drive the HR function during an exciting period of growth and transformation in Darwin, NT.

Reporting to the Deputy CEO, this role will lead the design and implementation of AMSANT’s people strategy - aligning operational HR with long-term cultural and organisational goals.

This isn’t a compliance-only role - it’s a chance to create a people-first culture that empowers staff, strengthens leadership capability, and supports sustainable workforce outcomes

Key responsibilities include:

Leading the development and implementation of HR policies, systems, and compliance processes

Advising and coaching managers on employee relations, performance, and risk management

Coordinating recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning, and succession planning

Ensuring compliance with Fair Work, WHS, IR, and insurance obligations

Managing complex HR and industrial relations matters with fairness and diplomacy

Providing training, mentoring, and support to managers and staff across departments

This is a critical role and a chance to shape AMSANT’s people and culture strategy while mentoring upcoming HR talent.

Please Note: This is an active recruitment process, and early applications are strongly encouraged.

About You

You’re an experienced People-first leader who thrives in environments where purpose and complexity meet. You bring strategic clarity, cultural intelligence, and a practical understanding of the challenges that come with supporting a geographically dispersed workforce.

You will bring:

Tertiary qualifications in HR, business, or a related discipline.

At least 4 years of generalist HR experience, including experience managing complex people issues and advising leaders.

Demonstrated experience leading or supporting HR across remote or regional workplaces, ideally within the community-controlled, health, or not-for-profit sectors.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills - you know how to build trust across teams, even at a distance.

Experience in workforce planning, HRIS, data-informed decision making, and organisational development.

A coaching approach - you empower leaders rather than doing the work for them.

Highly regarded experience includes:

Work within Aboriginal community-controlled or not-for-profit settings.

Strong knowledge of the Fair Work Act, WHS, and enterprise agreements.

Experience managing compensation and risk-related HR matters.

You’re proactive, adaptable, and culturally attuned - comfortable working remotely while maintaining close collaboration with AMSANT’s Darwin-based leadership team and regional members.

You will also hold a current Ochre Card and National Police Check, or be willing to obtain one.

About the Benefits

At AMSANT, we believe in looking after our people as much as we care for the communities we serve. Along with a competitive salary circa $125,485 – $140,777 PLUS Super, you’ll enjoy a range of benefits designed to support your professional growth and personal wellbeing, including, but not limited to:

Salary packaging up to $15,899 per year

Relocation assistance for the right candidate

6 weeks annual leave plus 17.5% leave loading

Personal/carer’s leave up to 15 days per year

10 Days per year of Study leave can be negotiated
