About Us

At Oxfam Australia, we believe all lives are equal and no-one should live in poverty. We are a member of Oxfam International, a global confederation working with partners and local communities in 87 countries.

Would you like to join this global movement of people working together to eliminate the inequalities that keep people in poverty?

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and committed person to fill the role of Partnerships and Grants Lead.

Why you will love working at Oxfam

As part of Partnerships and Grants team, you will use your skills, qualifications, lived experience and initiative to tackle inequality and fight poverty. Yes, you read that right, lived experience and initiative, because it is not all about key selection criteria.

Research shows that women will only apply for a job if they meet 100% of the selection criteria, while men will apply if they meet an average of 60%. We understand that life teaches us so much, so if you don't meet all the criteria but just know that you have what it takes, then please apply.

Are you re-entering the workforce after a career break? Don't worry! We are looking for people with a fire in their belly and a commitment to ending poverty. As long as you know your subject matter, we can teach you the other stuff and show you what's happened while you were away.

The Role

The Partnerships and Grants Lead play a pivotal role in strengthening Oxfam Australia’s international program portfolio through strategic partnership management, business development, and robust grant oversight. The role balances strategic leadership with hands-on coordination to ensure that Oxfam’s partnerships are impactful, equitable, and compliant
with donor and organisational expectations.

Working closely with partner country teams, donors, and internal stakeholders, the position ensures Oxfam Australia’s investments deliver maximum impact, meet program management and quality standards, and adhere to legal, contractual, and ethical obligations. The role is also responsible for strengthening partner and staff capacity in program management systems, donor compliance, and safeguarding, while ensuring these standards are consistently applied across Oxfam’s portfolio.

The Partnerships and Grants Lead will manage a designated portfolio of countries and programs, as determined by the Head of Partnerships and Grants. This portfolio may evolve
in line with funding shifts and organisational priorities.

A little about you (the key selection criteria)

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Proven experience in international development and/or humanitarian programs, ideally in rights-based and feminist contexts (could delete this last phrase if needed).
  • Demonstrated success in managing strategic partnerships and complex donor grants (financial oversight and compliance)
  • Experience in program design, policy integration (gender, safeguarding, inclusion), MEAL frameworks, and adaptive management.
  • Experience leading or contributing to business development and resource
    mobilisation.

We can offer you

  • A base salary of $114,801.48 plus superannuation, superior leave benefits and access to a generous not-for-profit salary packaging program (up to $18,450 of your salary tax-free).
  • The opportunity to use your talents and expertise to make a positive impact around the world.
  • We value flexibility and seek to support our people to work in ways that meet their work/life commitments and support their wellbeing.
  • Cultural leave
  • Superannuation matching
