About the team
Spatial Services, a division of the Department of Customer Service is the key provider of spatial land information services in New South Wales. Spatial Services' integrated framework connects the people of NSW to a comprehensive package of land and property services including property information, surveying and mapping. Spatial Services' provides land information services to individuals, businesses, government agencies and non-profit organisations throughout NSW, Australia and internationally.

The Emergency Information Coordination Unit (EICU) is a Supporting Agency under the State Emergency Management Plan (EMPLAN) as a single coordination point for spatial data and intelligence across the NSW emergency management sector. This includes being the lead agency to ensure that the emergency management sector has the most reliable, informed, and up-to-date intelligence to deal with all phases of emergencies and major events - facilitating situational awareness and informed decision-making through coordination of geospatial data and intelligence.

About the role:
As a Spatial Analyst you will utilise specialist spatial knowledge and skills to undertake various activities related to sourcing, quality assurance, maintenance and delivery of Spatial Services' Foundation Spatial Data, including cadastral, topographic, addressing, surveying, imagery, elevation and water.

The role utilises specialist spatial knowledge and skills to undertake various activities related to sourcing, quality assurance, maintenance, delivery, and operational utilisation of the EICU's Spatial Services' Emergency Services Spatial Information Library (ESSIL) and Foundation Spatial Data. The role also provides spatial support for emergency preparation, planning, and recovery.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Demonstrated experience and skills using GIS and related applications including data management, mapping, and spatial analysis.
  • Basic knowledge of ETL tools and their application to spatial data.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and think dynamically when faced with changing circumstances.

Please note:
This position will require occasionally being on call on a rotational roster and may require deployments to Emergency Operations Centres.

The ability to attain a Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) (SECRET) level security clearance is a requirement for the role.

Eligibility to apply for an NV1 clearance is generally restricted to Australian citizens.
