Fixed vacancy for 3 years – part time 19 hours per week(with the option to take on clinical duties for a full time load)
The role
As the Divisional Director – Women, Children, and Youth you will work in partnership with the Director of Nursing and Midwifery - Operations of the Division of Women, Children and Youth across Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospitals. You will be accountable for the safety and quality, financial and operational management of the Division. The Divisional Directors, through strategic leadership and their membership of the RDH and PRH Executive Team, drive divisional performance, achieve organisational targets and implement the highest standards of clinical and corporate governance within the NT Health Values. The Medical Divisional Director will contribute to the overall leadership and management of RDH and PRH, and the achievement of the RDH and PRH Strategic Priorities.
The Facilities
Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH) is a 370-bed facility located in the northern suburbs of Darwin. It serves as the tertiary referral hospital for the Top End of the NT and provides a wide range of acute and specialist medical services to urban, regional, and remote communities across the Top End and beyond.
RDH is a tertiary teaching hospital affiliated with Flinders University, Charles Darwin University, the Menzies School of Health Research, and the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre
Palmerston Regional Hospital (PRH) is a 116-bed facility located 20km south of Darwin. It operates as an extension of RDH and is a sub-acute service hospital.
About you
To be successful you will have:
Eligible for specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia with Fellowship of a Medical College.
Demonstrated extensive relevant professional experience at a senior level in an acute tertiary setting.
Demonstrated high level ability to provide strategic leadership, deliver business and clinical service plans and outcomes in a complex hospital environment, with the demonstrated high level ability to lead, negotiate, implement and drive organisational change in support of the achievement of strategic and operational goals.
Demonstrated high level knowledge and experience of continuous quality improvement principles and their application.
Demonstrated high level ability to operate effectively in an environment of ongoing change and uncertainty and to create a flexible environment that enables others to meet changing demands in a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment.
Demonstrated high-level ability to contribute effectively as a member of the RDH and PRH Executive team, with use of advanced communication, interpersonal, conflict management and negotiation skills to maximise productive working relationships with the executive management and the multidisciplinary teams.
Demonstrated high level ability to engage with and develop relationships with key stakeholders within and outside of the organisation including an ability to interact effectively with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
Demonstrated ability to manage human and financial resources in an environment of competing demands.
Demonstrated ability to manage conflict to promote cooperation, teamwork and understanding in undertaking challenging, demanding and complex work
