ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY
Yugul Mangi Development Aboriginal Corporation (YMDAC) was established on 10 April 2008 to develop the social, economic, governance and cultural wellbeing of the Ngukurr community.
Our aim is to strengthen cultural governance authority, social and community development services that improve individual, family and community social and emotional wellbeing and build a sustainable viable local economy creating full employment, career pathways and an end to generational welfare dependence.
Through community led decision-making YMDAC deliver a large array of social programs and develops business to provide services in Ngukurr returning the surpluses back into the community. YMDAC promotes the growth of community owned enterprises, Joint Venture Partnerships and supports local business development, within the remote Aboriginal community of Ngukurr, (320km East of Katherine) and its surrounding areas.

OUR IDEAL CANDIADATE WILL HAVE:
Drive and passion to work in remote Indigenous community, working closely with the Board of Directors, Indigenous Committees, and community members to make a real difference in people lives.
Possess a comprehensive knowledge and experience in contemporary leadership practices, including an ability to lead and manage staff in an environment of change.
Have the capability to be responsible for providing leadership and management in the delivery of Social Services Program by ensuring quality services are delivered in a manner that supports building a stronger community. The position will work in partnership with the relevant Executives/Board and Committee members to support the delivery of safe, effective, and sustainable support to the community and provide strategic advice to the Board of Directors
Must have well-developed communication skills, including the ability to negotiate with and advocate for youth, children, and families and to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and a capacity to operate effectively in a political environment.
Demonstrated well-developed conceptual and analytical skills and the ability to make complex assessments and decisions.
Substantial experience in preparing tenders, establishing services, and exceeding program expectations, and promoting their success.
Possess highly developed mentoring, coaching and supervision skills and the ability to motivate and influence others in a positive manner.
A MUST HAVE:
Tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, youth services, social sciences or deemed equivalent experience.
Post-graduate qualifications in management, social policy or deemed equivalent experience.
Northern Territory Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card).
National Police Criminal History Report (less than three months old) with acceptable outcome.
Northern Territory Driver’s License (or willingness to obtain within agreed timeframe).
Demonstrated currency of pandemic and job specific vaccinations (and boosters).
First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain within agreed timeframe).
