The Role

A Local Government department is seeking a Traffic and Transport Engineer to provide expert technical advice and support across traffic, transport and civil engineering matters. In this role, you'll review and assess development applications, traffic management plans and transport investigations. This is a contract role until February 2026, based in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne, with an immediate start.

Responsibilities:

• Review and assess traffic, transport and parking-related development and infrastructure applications.
• Provide technical input on traffic management plans, road safety improvements and transport network design.
• Conduct investigations and prepare reports and recommendations to support planning and operational decisions.
• Liaise with internal departments, consultants and the public to resolve traffic and transport issues.
• Contribute to project planning and the development of transport and road safety initiatives.

About You

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent, with eligibility for membership with Engineers Australia.
• Experience in traffic and transport engineering, including traffic management, road design or infrastructure assessment.
• Strong knowledge of relevant standards, codes and guidelines related to transport and road safety.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil CAD, spreadsheets and traffic simulation software is desirable.
