The Role

We are seeking a capable and motivated Project Manager or Senior Project Manager to join our growing presence in Mackay. This role is ideal for someone ready to take ownership of projects and play a key role in establishing and leading a local team.

You will form part of the SPC North Queensland Team, which is based in Townsville, and work closely with team members across North and Central Queensland to deliver high-impact infrastructure, health, education, and community projects.

This is a strategic opportunity to grow with a company expanding its footprint in Northern Queensland, offering both autonomy and strong leadership support.

Key Responsibilities

Lead or support full lifecycle project delivery – from feasibility and design to procurement and construction.

Manage stakeholder relationships across government, health, education, and private sectors.

Administer contracts (e.g. AS 4000) and maintain tight control over cost, scope, and program.

Coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams and contractors.

Support the business development pipeline through client engagement and repeat work.

Mentor junior staff and contribute to developing SPC’s Mackay presence.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

Tertiary qualification in Project Management, Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.

Strong communication, planning, and stakeholder management skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management platforms.

Valid Australian Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel to regional sites.

Project Manager – Requirements

3–6 years’ experience in project delivery (consultant-side or contractor-side).

Experience assisting or managing components of client-side projects.

Strong reporting and coordination capabilities with growing leadership potential.

Senior Project Manager – Requirements

6+ years’ client-side project management experience, preferably in infrastructure or government sectors.

Proven ability to lead projects, manage risk, and deliver outcomes in complex stakeholder environments.

Desire and capability to grow a team and support regional leadership efforts.
