Casual Chef / Cook / Kitchen Hand – Perfect for Retirees or Those Seeking a Little Extra Work - Start This Week!

Location: Launceston, TAS
Hours: 1–2 days per week (mainly race days)

The Tasmanian Turf Club Inc. is looking for a friendly, reliable Casual Chef / Cook / Kitchen Hand to join our small, supportive kitchen team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being in the kitchen but isn’t looking for full-time hours — perhaps you’re semi-retired, recently stepped back from hospitality, or just want to pick up an extra shift or two each week.

About the Role

You’ll be helping us during our busiest times — particularly on race days, when our kitchen comes to life. Tasks include:

Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes for our restaurant, events, and functions

Assisting with general food prep and kitchen duties

Keeping the kitchen clean, safe, and organised

Following food safety and hygiene standards

Working as part of a small, dedicated team that takes pride in good food and good company

Who We’re Looking For

You might be a retired chef or cook who misses the buzz of the kitchen, or perhaps someone with hospitality experience who just wants a casual, flexible role. Ideally, you’ll have:

Previous kitchen experience (Chef, Cook, or Kitchen Hand)

A sound understanding of food safety and hygiene

A can-do attitude and team spirit

The ability to pitch in and keep things running smoothly on busy days
