The Sweet Meadow is a cozy local café located at 640 High Street, Echuca.
Open 6 days a week (closed Tuesdays) from 8am am to 2 pm, we offer a mostly vegetarian menu of delicious breakfast and lunch options, with a focus on whole foods and gluten free options (we don't use deep fryers).
About the Role:
As our full time Chef (35-37 hours per week), you’ll take the lead in our kitchen, creating menus that showcase quality ingredients and classic cafe favourites with a healthy twist. We have an open kitchen and our customers love to chat, so a warm personality is ideal!
Responsibilities:
Plan and prepare a varied, high-quality cafe menu
Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen safety
Manage stock, ordering, and suppliers efficiently
Work closely with front-of-house to ensure smooth service
Help train and support junior kitchen staff if needed
About You:
Proven experience as a Cook or Chef in a similar setting
A genuine love for healthy food with room for creativity
Able to work independently and stay calm under pressure
Flexible, reliable, and a team player
Food Hygiene & Safety certifications preferred
Responsibilities:
Adhere to the food safety standards and occupational health & safety rules and regulations
Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices.
Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience.
Making dessert and arrange to serve.
Wash, peel, cut, and seed grains, fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption.
Estimate expected food consumption; then requisition or purchase supplies or procure food from storage.

Requirements:
Minimum of 1 year work experience requirement and Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent work experience.
