Project Draftsperson – Mechanical / HVACEpping, VIC | $90k–$110k + Career Progression + Hands-On Role

A leading mechanical services contractor in Melbourne’s north is looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Draftsperson to join their growing team. This business delivers end-to-end HVAC and mechanical projects across the commercial and industrial sectors, known for their practical approach, attention to detail, and high-quality workmanship.

This role would suit a hands-on draftsperson who enjoys working across the full project lifecycle, from design and coordination through to fabrication and installation. You’ll be involved in a variety of interesting and technically challenging projects, collaborating with engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure each design is accurate, buildable, and delivered to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and coordinate shop drawings, coordination models, and as-built documentation for mechanical and HVAC systems.
• Review consultant markups, ensuring penetrations, pre-cast elements, and fabrication details are captured correctly.
• Attend coordination meetings with engineers, project managers, and architects to resolve design and fit issues.
• Deliver accurate, compliant documentation that supports successful fabrication and installation.

About You

• Experience as a Mechanical Draftsperson within a commercial HVAC or mechanical contracting environment.
• Ability to interpret and produce detailed mechanical drawings that translate directly to fabrication and install.
• Skilled in AutoCAD, Revit, or VME.
• Strong communication skills and confidence in technical discussions.
• No formal qualifications required — hands-on mechanical experience and system knowledge are key.
