About the Information Technology Services Department:
The Information Technology Services Department supports the Institute's operations through the delivery of secure, efficient, and innovative IT solutions. The team provides a wide range of technical support and systems management to enable impactful medical research across all QIMR Berghofer programs.
Role Purpose / Responsibilities:
Applications are invited for an IT Support Officer to join our Information Technology Services team.
The successful candidate will provide first and second level technical support to end users, ensuring the smooth operation of the Institute's IT infrastructure and systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide Level 1 and 2 end-user support and troubleshooting in a diverse IT environment.
- Manage users through Active Directory (new users, terminations, and movements).
- Set up, configure, and network new computers (Windows, MacOS, Linux).
- Troubleshoot software and hardware issues on Institute devices.
- Support data and telephone cabling, including testing and configuration.
- Assist with A/V setup for meetings and seminars.
- Contribute to developing IT procedures and policies.
- Ensure compliance with WHS policies and procedures.
About you:
To be successful in this position you will have:
- Qualifications in Information Technology or relevant experience in IT support.
- Experience with desktop and laptop setup, networking, and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of Windows, MacOS, and Linux environments.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and office automation tools.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced support environment.
Desirable:
- Experience with web content management systems, data cabling, and network connectivity.
- Exposure to Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and print management.
- Familiarity with Red Hat-based Linux variants and Ubuntu.
Remuneration: Salary range is $77,249 to $86,324 p.a. plus super and generous salary packaging. This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for six (6) months.
