Terrain NRM is seeking a dynamic Project Coordinator to support the implementation of the Herbert Integrated Project (HIP)—a whole-of-system initiative improving reef water quality and delivering local co-benefits across the Herbert River Catchment.
This is your opportunity to work with a leading not-for-profit natural resource management organisation, empowering communities and partners to deliver innovative, on-ground solutions.
As Project Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in coordinating and delivering integrated projects focused on sustainable agriculture, natural capital, circular economies, and catchment-wide planning. You’ll work closely with stakeholders, including Traditional Owners, government agencies, industry groups, and community organisations, to ensure alignment, engagement, and successful outcomes.
You’ll be based in or near Ingham, working remotely across the catchment to support project design, delivery, and reporting. This role is part of a supportive team and guided by the HIP Working Group.
We’re looking for someone who is:
Experienced in coordinating place-based environmental or agricultural projects.
Skilled in stakeholder engagement and partnership development.
Knowledgeable in natural capital and circular economy principles (desirable).
A confident communicator with strong report writing and interpersonal skills.
Able to work independently and collaboratively across diverse teams.
Based in or near the Herbert River Catchment area (ideally Ingham).
Selection Criteria
Authority & Accountability
Proven experience in planning and delivering similar place-based programs and projects that deliver environmental, economic and community benefits.
Management Skills
· Proven experience or ability in developing, monitoring, and evaluating budgets to support operational and project delivery.
· Ability to work independently and remotely.
Specialist Knowledge & Skills
· In-depth knowledge of the Herbert River Catchment, key partners and stakeholders and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
· Knowledge and experience in Natural Capital approaches and the application of Circular Economy principles in natural resource management (desirable).
Interpersonal Skills
· High-level verbal and written communication and quality report writing skills
· Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills in motivating and collaborating with key partners, with the ability to interact effectively with a range of people, and present ideas/tasks clearly and accurately.
· Strong alignment with Terrain values and culture to support, guide and manage difficult situations and ability to enhance positive culture.
Judgement & Problem Solving
· Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement in analysing, prioritising, and resolving or making recommendations on project issues under time and operational constraints.
· Demonstrated ability to work with a level of independence in determining priorities, and decision making under delegated authority.
Workplace Health & Safety
· Knowledge of relevant workplace health and safety considerations and demonstrated awareness of requirements for employment equity, ethical conduct and the Anti-Discrimination Act.
· High level of personal and team safety.
· Demonstrated commitment to cultural diversity and a working knowledge of equity
Qualifications & Experience
· Relevant degree or equivalent qualification and/or industry experience in Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or Agricultural Science.
· Advanced Computer Literacy (Microsoft Office, Project, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) essential.
· Extensive application of program/project management skills, knowledge and experience to deliver within the Natural Resource Management sector.
· Based in or near the Herbert River Catchment area (ideally Ingham).
Benefits of the role
Part-time (58 – 72.5 hours per fortnight negotiable)
Fixed term until June 2027
