Your opportunity
The Marketing, Digital and Communications team is a vibrant, fast-paced environment driving the University’s reputation and engagement through brand, media, marketing, and digital experience. Its work spans content creation, storytelling, digital strategy, alumni engagement, and student recruitment, all aligned with the University’s purpose of changing lives through revolutionary learning and research with real impact.
As our Communications Officer, you will bring the University’s stories to life across media, digital and social channels. You’ll work with journalists, creators, and colleagues to deliver engaging, timely, and accurate communications that raise awareness of SCU’s achievements, connect with our communities, and inspire pride in our brand.
You will make an impact by:
- Producing multi-channel content, including written, video, and audio, to showcase the University’s achievements and events.
- Researching, writing, and distributing media releases, identifying opportunities for proactive media coverage and supporting social media engagement.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with media contacts at local, regional, and national levels.
- Collaborating across teams to deliver consistent, engaging and strategic communications.
What you will bring
You’re a creative storyteller and communications professional who thrives on connecting people through authentic and impactful content.
To succeed in this role, you will also need:
- A relevant Degree in Communications, Media or Marketing and three (3) years relevant experience in journalism, media and/or public relations, social media management or equivalent.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and experience engaging with news and media networks, and producing content across platforms in a timely manner incorporating imagery, video and/or audio.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences and mediums.
- Knowledge of current social media trends, digital content strategy, and media relations.

Your opportunity is:
- One full-time continuing (permanent) role and one full-time fixed-term (12 months) role
- Located at either Coffs Harbour, NSW 2450, Gold Coast, QLD 4225, or Lismore, NSW 2480. Relocation assistance is available, making it easier to join our regional communities
- HEW Level 6. The base salary ranges from $95,961 - $ 105,250 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $123,143.
