We’re seeking an Operations Manager to join our leadership team and oversee the day-to-day delivery of multiple concurrent civil projects across Sydney.

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Operations Manager will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and performance of Sydney Civil’s field operations.

You’ll lead Project Managers and site teams to ensure programs of work are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality.

You’ll use people, plant, and subcontractor resources effectively — balancing schedules, costs, and quality outcomes while keeping safety at the centre of every decision.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and support Project Managers to deliver works safely, on time, and within budget.

Plan and allocate resources, labour, and plant across multiple active projects to achieve optimal utilisation.

Monitor operational performance through site reviews, progress reports, and direct engagement with field teams.

Ensure safety standards, procedures, and culture are embedded across all sites.

Identify and resolve project and resource issues before they impact delivery.

Drive continuous improvement in planning, safety systems, and delivery efficiency.

Maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and the community.

About You

You’re an experienced and hands-on leader who understands what it takes to manage operations across multiple worksites without losing control of the detail. You value structure, accountability, and teamwork — and you’re relentless about safety.

You’ll bring:

Proven experience as an Operations Manager, Construction Manager, or Senior Project Manager in civil infrastructure.

Experience managing multiple concurrent projects across the Sydney region.

Hold a high degree of attention to detail with respect to safety and quality.

Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to coach and support internal staff and subcontractors.

A deep understanding of safety management and the ability to embed it into daily operations.

Practical knowledge of planning, resourcing, and cost control for civil works.

Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or equivalent trade and leadership experience (preferred).
