About the role
We’re looking for an AML Operations Analyst to join our Financial Crime Operations team and help us stay one step ahead of financial crime. In this role, you’ll play a key part in protecting BOQ Group by assessing and investigating alerts generated by our detection and monitoring systems. These alerts relate to retail and institutional banking products, and your work will help ensure we’re meeting our AML/CTF regulatory obligations and aligning with our Financial Crime Strategy.
You’ll be part of a team that looks after transaction monitoring, customer screening, and exception handling for regulatory reporting. Day to day, you’ll be reviewing alerts and transactions to spot anything unusual—whether that’s suspicious activity, patterns, or behaviours—and escalating them for further investigation or reporting to AUSTRAC. You’ll also be screening customers and payments against watchlists to identify any risks linked to sanctions, PEPs, adverse media, or blacklisted individuals.
There’s also the opportunity to get involved in improvement initiatives across AML Operations and the broader FCO team while working closely with stakeholders across AML Operations, FC Compliance, and Risk & Assurance, so collaboration is key.
About you
You – our preferred candidate have worked in a Financial Crime Operations team before and know your way around transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, PEPs, and ECDD. You’re confident investigating alerts and following the data trail—whether it’s tracking a customer’s source of funds or identifying related parties.
You’re curious, analytical, and always up for improving how things are done. You manage your workload like a pro, hit your KPIs, and communicate clearly alongside being articulate, with strong written communication skills and a sharp eye for detail—nothing gets past you. If you’ve used Net Reveal on Demand (NROD), that’s a bonus. Same goes for qualifications like ACAMS, ICA, or CCP.
We’re looking for someone who’s thoughtful, proactive, and a natural collaborator. If you’ve got a keen eye for detail and love connecting your work to the bigger picture—we’d love to hear from you.
