SDRC is seeking an experienced and driven Parks Supervisor to join our Parks team. This leadership position will play a key role in ensuring efficient and effective maintenance and improvement of SDRC's parks and gardens in the Southern region.
Term: Permanent Full-time
Hours of Work: 76 hours per fortnight
Pay Level: $2806.57 to $3258.83 per fortnight (Level 3-4), plus 12% superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading
In accordance with Council's Enterprise Agreement and the relevant Award. Pay rate dependant on relevant skills and experience.
Employment Base: Stanthorpe, Queensland

About the Department
The Parks & Operations Department delivers a range of services internally and externally which contribute to the overall service outcomes of Council. As part of the Infrastructure, Assets and Projects Directorate, the Department delivers an extremely diverse range of operational field roles including maintenance of Council parks, gardens, buildings and playgrounds. Other services include management of building service contracts, fleet mechanical repairs and supporting grieving families through our cemetery services. The Department also delivers capital works projects for Council buildings, parks and cemeteries, and as part of its field work manages the procurement and disposal of road vehicles and heavy plant operated by Council.

- Provide principal leadership to, and oversight of, the Parks Team in the delivery of Council's parks and gardens services;
- Monitor, advise and report on work matters including (but not limited to) the Team's budget, maintenance program, health and safety, maintenance requests, plant and equipment, asset management and human resources; and
- In conjunction with the relevant Coordinator, maintain a sustainable Parks Team through building knowledge, skill and capacity in relevant areas of Council ensuring succession planning for team roles.
What You Will Need
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- Relevant qualification (e.g. Parks & Gardens, Horticulture) at a Certificate III Level or higher, OR a demonstrated ability and willingness to obtain one;
- Current certificate for Traffic Management Implementation, OR a demonstrated ability and willingness to obtain one;
- Current Open C (Car) Class Licence; and
- Occupational Health and Safety Construction Induction Card ("White Card"), OR the ability to obtain prior to commencement.
- Immunisation record indicating Hepatitis A&B vaccinations/immunity, OR the ability to obtain to be vaccinated in accordance with Council's Immunisation Procedure.
- The legal right to live and work in Australia

- VACCINATIONS
- Knowledge and experience in Parks Operations, horticulture, irrigation, garden and open space management
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with business partners and customers, and motivate, coach and counsel staff (including identification of training opportunities)
- Demonstrated ability to control budgets, effectively utilise Council's computer systems and compile basic reports
- To be able to demonstrate your competence in relation to all of the Selection Criteria as detailed in the Position Description.
