About the role
Join a large Commonwealth Government agency delivering a major national transformation program. An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Assistant Director to lead a small team responsible for program planning, reporting, and governance within a large-scale transformation initiative. The position focuses on driving the delivery of planning artefacts, risk and issue management, and performance reporting to support senior executive decision-making.
Key responsibilities
Lead and manage program planning, performance reporting, and risk management functions.
Oversee the preparation of briefs, decision papers, presentations, and progress reports.
Coordinate risk, issue, and dependency management in a fast-paced environment.
Support program governance forums and integrated scheduling activities.
Provide analysis, insights, and recommendations to assist program leadership.
Foster collaboration and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across divisions.
Essential requirements
Demonstrated experience managing or coordinating programs or large projects, ideally in an Agile environment.
Strong understanding of risk, issue, and dependency management processes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level reporting.
Proven leadership and team management capability.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify gaps and drive improvements.
Australian citizenship and eligibility to obtain a Baseline security clearance (or already has one).
Commitment to public sector values, integrity, and impartiality.
Desirable
Relevant tertiary qualifications.
Experience or training with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe®).
