Details: The ACT Intermediary Program is seeking applications for the role of Director, ACT Intermediary Program to commence as soon as possible. The Director of the Program is responsible for the smooth operation of the Intermediary Program (‘the Program’). This includes overseeing the work of a team of accredited in-house and panel intermediaries who assess the communication needs of witnesses and provide advice to police, lawyers and the court as to how such witnesses may be supported to give their best evidence.
The Director will support the Senior Director in the investment of strong working relationships with justice agencies and other community and government stakeholders. The Director will also support the Senior Director to ensure the Program is responsive 24/7 to police, court and lawyer referral requests. The position will also provide assistance to the Senior Director and the VOCC in relation to record keeping, data analysis, financial management of the Program’s budget and the development and implementation of the Program’s strategic work plan.
Eligibility/Other Requirements: It is highly desirable if candidates can demonstrate:
- High level verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to liaise, negotiate and consult with both internal and external stakeholders to effectively influence and negotiate outcomes in the interest of the Program.
- High-level organisational skills, including the ability to respond to the time-sensitive pressures associated with leading a 24/7 high quality service to vulnerable clients.
- Demonstrated experience delivering trauma-informed services and support to victim-survivors and/or other vulnerable members of the community.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage, motivate and support a multi-disciplinary team to deliver Program initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare high level submissions, reports and correspondence.
- The ability to manage work priorities, identify urgent tasks and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
- The ability to work sensitively with a range of people, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people who identify as LGBTIQ+, people experiencing trauma and with complex needs and vulnerable people who have been alleged to commit violent and/or crimes of a sexual nature.
- This position does require a National Police Check.

Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of three months with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency.
A merit pool will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months.
