What you'll do
- Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
- Manage and lead the Unit to ensure it appropriately administers its legislative obligations and maintains business culture and standards that are consistent with best practice in the contemporary regulation.
- Establish and maintain strategic and operational relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including other jurisdictions, national bodies and other areas within the Department undertaking regulatory functions relating to the use of scheduled medicines in Queensland.
- Monitor interstate and international research and trends, best practice and performance on all matters relevant to the regulation of scheduled medicines and related technologies.
- Lead, supervise and manage people, promoting their ongoing professional development and effective performance through mentoring and coaching.
- Proactively support teams to achieve business priorities and deliver services aligned to strategic objectives.
- Review, prepare and provide advice on complex and sensitive reports, briefings, policy papers, submissions and other documentation as required to senior departmental management and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead, initiate and manage transformational change, through the application of business process review and improvement
About you
We are searching for someone who:
- High level leadership and management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks within tight timeframes and manage staff and resources to achieve deliverables in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated high level verbal communication skills and achievements in cultivating productive working relationships, partnerships and teamwork and negotiate outcomes and effectively represent the interests of the Department in dealings with stakeholders.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise way.
- Knowledge of the Queensland and Australian health system, in particular compliance and regulation or ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge.
- Demonstrates sound governance – Role models impartiality and ensure legislative and regulatory frameworks are applied effectively.
- Leads Strategically – Views situations through a range of perspectives, analysing multiple sources of information to recognise the broader implication of issues.
