Wellbeing Services
Darwin, Northern Territory
Ongoing vacancy available

Apply your extensive experience in clinical assessment and evidence-based interventions to deliver complex and high-risk psychological presentations.

The Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services (NTPFES) is a large and diverse organisation servicing the whole of the Northern Territory, covering everything from densely populated urban areas to remote communities and large regions of bushland.

The population is equally diverse, with many different nationalities and cultures living and working in and throughout the Territory.

Positioned within the NT Police Force (NTPF), Wellbeing Services supports the emotional, psychological and social wellbeing of all NTPF and NTFES personnel and their immediate family members.

As a Senior Psychologist in Wellbeing Services, you will provide advanced psychological services and clinical leadership to support the mental health and wellbeing of police officers, firefighters, volunteers, and their families. You will deliver complex clinical assessments and interventions, supervise and mentor allied health professionals, and contribute to training, policy development and strategic initiatives across the agency.

As part of a multidisciplinary team that includes psychologists, social workers, occupational rehabilitation advisors, chaplains and peer supporters, you will play a key role in ensuring evidence-based, trauma-informed care is available to members across the Territory. This involves delivering complex clinical assessments and interventions, supervising allied health professionals, and contributing to program development, training, policy, and strategic initiatives across the agency. You will also be required to respond to critical incidents, provide on-scene support, and contribute to organisational wellbeing strategies and clinical governance.

To be successful, you are required to have full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, post graduate qualifications in clinical psychology, extensive experience in clinical assessment and evidence-based interventions, and strong knowledge of trauma-informed care, psychological risk mitigation, and critical incident response.

High-level interpersonal skills, including the ability to work respectfully with First Nations clients and a diverse workforce is essential.

In return, you will receive a competitive remuneration package inclusive of 12% superannuation, 6 weeks recreation and 3 weeks personal leave, additional 3-day Christmas closedown leave, 17.5% annual leave loading, flexible work options and a supportive leadership team and peer group as you develop a long-term career with the NT Police Force. Assistance with relocation is available if required.

If you reside interstate, this a great time to consider relocating to the Territory and experiencing the uniqueness of living and working in Darwin. Enjoy an enviable lifestyle and a work life balance that allows you time to explore the stunning landscapes, tropical sunsets and spectacular lightening displays. Darwin’s rich multicultural society and community spirit makes it a great place to live, work and play. Relocation assistance can be discussed at interview.
