Reporting to the Field Supervisor, the Protection Automation & Control Technician will play a key role in commissioning, operating, and maintaining both primary and secondary equipment and systems across distribution, zone, and sub-transmission substations and networks.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Safely commission, operate, and maintain primary (e.g. circuit breakers, transformers) and secondary equipment/systems (e.g. protection, automation, communication) across substations and networks.

Perform complex fault-finding and resolve technical issues in collaboration with stakeholders.

Conduct technical investigations and implement solutions.

Complete documentation for commissioning, maintenance, and fault-finding activities.

Use engineering systems and interpret technical documents, standards, and procedures.

Lead on-site teams, supervise tasks, and ensure safety compliance.

Support emergency response operations and contribute to project planning.

To be successful, you must have:

Qualification in a relevant electrical trade - Cert III Electrotechnology Systems Electrician (or equivalent).

A Class C drivers’ licence.

A WH&S Work Cover – General Induction.

Sound knowledge of relevant statutes, regulations and procedures such as safe working practices, network standards and codes of practice.

Demonstrated experience in carrying out commissioning, maintenance, operation and fault finding of primary equipment and secondary equipment/systems in accordance with relevant Operating.

Ability to work in distribution, zone and sub-transmission substations without supervision.
