Currently, there are around 5.5 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 717,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.
A new role awaits
The Financial Reporting and Control Branch supports the Agency in financial management and compliance with legislative and policy requirements, including the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act (2013) and the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act (2013). We provide timely and accurate financial information based on strong financial controls, supporting the agency’s decision-making and the Government’s objectives for financial sustainability of both the agency and the scheme.
The APS5 Finance Officer Scheme Reporting operates under direction in the preparation of financial accounts, insightful reporting and procedures to ensure the agency operates a strong financial control environment. You will contribute to the integrity of financial data, assist in the development of management reports, and help drive informed decision-making across the organisation. Also supporting problem solving and issues management on Scheme financial matters.

The APS5 Finance Officer position requires attention to detail and an ability to summarise financial information to support high level advice and operational support.
Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- Prepare monthly accounts in accordance with relevant standards.
- Assist with the production of management reports to provide insight into the financial results.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of financial reporting frameworks and templates.
- Perform reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis to ensure data accuracy.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather financial inputs and clarify reporting requirements.
- Support operational teams with timely and reliable financial data.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of reporting systems and processes.
- Assist with the preparation of material to respond to financial queries from auditors and management.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory obligations.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis to support strategic initiatives and operational decisions.
- Other financial and administrative tasks required as directed.

What we’re looking for in our ideal candidate:
- Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, including preparation of financial journals and reconciliations.
- Analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights.
- Ability to prepare clear, concise financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Understanding of accounting principles and relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Good time management and organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Good communication skills and able to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Experience with Microsoft Applications in particular Excel.
- Experience working with data reporting tools such as SAS & Power BI is highly regarded.
- Tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance, or a related discipline (or working towards) highly regarded.

While this role is ideally performed from Geelong or Richmond - VIC , remote working arrangements may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
