About the Opportunity

SafeWork SA is looking for someone who is keen to use their skills and aptitudes to positively influence safety in the workplace. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape safety in South Australian workplaces. SafeWork SA is looking for a dynamic, professional and experienced investigator to join our team. You will lead complex and diverse workplace investigations. You will have the opportunity to work with a range of industries and technical experts to investigate complex and catastrophic workplace serious incidents and fatalities. As the successful candidate you will have the opportunity to take a proactive role in leading response teams throughout an investigation into a serious workplace incident. You will have a unique opportunity to identify learnings that can assist in developing tools and guidance to educate others to avoid these catastrophic incidents. To be a successful contender you will require significant experience in investigation, ability to present in Court and be a critical thinker for complex investigations. You will have the opportunity to mentor and coach other staff in investigation methods and practices.

About the Business

SafeWork SA is a business unit within Attorney-General’s Department and is responsible for providing work, health and safety, public safety, and state-based industrial relations services across South Australia. As a regulator, our Investigators and Inspectors ensure work, health and safety, and public safety standards are met, and appropriate action is taken when breaches of laws are detected. We also help people better understand their work health and safety responsibilities.

Special Conditions for Employment

Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.
