Background Information

Laidley Community Centre Inc. (LCC Inc.) is a dynamic, grass-roots, not-for-profit organisation made up of community leaders, local business people, committed and caring staff, and vibrant community members. Managed by a voluntary Board of Management, LCC Inc. delivers a suite of services, with charity as a primary focus, to achieve positive outcomes for those community members most in need. LCC Inc. delivers services to the community from the Laidley Community Centre at 13 Mary St, Laidley. These include Emergency Relief, Food Relief, Community Connect, Welfare Access (via Centrelink), Tax Help, Computer Help, Form Filling, Venue Hire and Information/Referral. Additionally, the community centre hosts a range of visiting services and undertakes other activities and events where appropriate. These centre-based services compliment a range of other community projects overseen by LCC Inc. including the Early Connections Project, Community Connect Program, Financial Resilience Program and Volunteer Response Team. All services delivered by LCC Inc. are closely integrated to support strengthened services access for the community and a cohesive and highly effective LCC team. Job Summary

The Manager’s role is to undertake the overall management of the Laidley Community Centre services and programs. The Manager is responsible for ensuring all staff and volunteers complete their duties using the policies and procedures of the organisation to provide effective, safe and ethical services to our community. The Manager will operationalise the strategic vision of the Board of Management. A key part of the role will be understanding service agreements, contracts, and budgets, and being able to complete acquittals and reporting to funders.

Reporting Structure

The position reports directly to the Board of Management, through the Chairperson. All staff and volunteers report to this role, some directly and others via Program Supervisors.

CONDITIONS SUMMARY

Award: Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Industry Award 2010

Level: Community Services Level 7

Type: Permanent Part-Time

Reports To: Board of Management

Hours: 30 hours/week to be worked on-site during centre opening hours, and limited events/activities/meetings after hours.

Funding: All LCC Inc. positions are funding dependent

Location: Based out of Laidley Community Centre at 13 Mary Street, Laidley. The role may include some travel within the Laidley Region.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

IDEAL:

Tertiary qualification relevant to role (human/social services or similar), AND

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in community centre or similar, AND

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in organisational management

Experience managing several staff across multiple services/projects from multiple funding sources/agreements

MANDATORY:

Blue card (or ability to attain)

VALUED:

First Aid Certificate (or ability to attain)

Food Safety Supervisor (or ability to attain)

Open Qld Drivers License (or ability to attain)

Trainer/Assessor qualifications

Experience working with diverse or vulnerable communities, and/or experience working with rural communities

Experience working with Management Committee/Board of Management

Experience with local, place-based organisations especially not-for-profit

Experience managing volunteers

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

To excel in this position, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

SC1. Proven experience in effectively leading a community or similar organisation

SC2. Strong organisational and management skills and the adaptability to respond effectively to challenging and varied situations.

SC3. Excellent communication skills including to professionally communicate with stakeholders, write grant applications/acquittal reports, and develop promotional materials (including social media & flyer design).

SC4. Demonstratable experience in effectively building and maintaining relationships with clients, stakeholders and funders of service programs
