🔐 Apprentice Security Technician – Launch Your Career in Commercial Security (Full-Time Pathway)

With offices in Southbank and Mt Eliza, and projects across Melbourne, we’re expanding our team with a motivated Apprentice Security Technician to grow into a long-term role.

🔧 About the Role

As an Apprentice Security Technician, you’ll assist with:

Cabling, cabling… and more cabling (to start) – then the real fun begins

Installing and maintaining CCTV, access control, alarm and intercom systems

Learning cutting-edge systems and technologies

Working across commercial sites in Melbourne (interstate opportunities may follow)

Supporting general labour, site prep, and workshop tasks when needed

Helping maintain IDS company premises and vehicles, and assisting other team members and security partners

You’ll be trained and supported to grow into a fully qualified Installation Technician in approximately 3 years (depending on your progress and prior experience)

🧠 What We’re Looking For

Beat the competition with some or all of the following:

1–2 years' experience in cabling or a similar trade

Strong technical curiosity and a can-do attitude

Basic understanding of networks or security systems

Cabling licence

EWP / Working at Heights licence

More importantly, you must be:

Punctual, reliable, hardworking and hungry to learn

Able to follow instructions and ask for help when needed

A team player who takes pride in their work and upholds strong values

🔑 Essentials

Competent computer skills

Reliable transport, or the ability to meet the lead technician at job sites

Clean license when you have enough experience to be given a company vehicle

Ability to obtain (or already hold) a Private Security Licence, Working with Children Check, and White/Red Card, Cabling license, EWP
