Are you a passionate leader who believes every older person deserves dignity, joy, and purpose? We are seeking an exceptional Wellness Coordinator to lead our vibrant wellness team in delivering rights-based, person-centered care under the strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards.
About the Role
This is not about filling time - it's about enriching lives with meaning and upholding the fundamental rights of older people. As Wellness Coordinator, reporting to the Clinical Care Manager, you will lead programs that celebrate culture, support wellbeing, and create genuine connection while ensuring compliance with the Aged Care Act 2024 and all seven Strengthened Quality Standards.
Reporting Line: Clinical Care Manager
Direct Leadership: Wellness Team (permanent, part-time, casual staff) plus volunteers
What You Will Do:
Champion the rights of older people to be treated with dignity, make decisions about their care, and have their identity, culture, and diversity valued
Design person-centered programs that celebrate each older person's unique cultural identity and life story
Partner with 100% of older people to create personalised wellness profiles respecting their choices and preferences
Provide compassionate support for older people living with dementia and those experiencing changed behaviors
Support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders' connection to Country and community
· reate inclusive spaces for all diverse communities including LGBTI+, CALD
Integrate High Impact High Prevalence (HIHP) risk prevention naturally into engaging wellness activities
Maintain competency in holistic assessment covering physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual needs
Build bridges between older people, families, and the broader community
Support privacy and dignity in all community interactions
Develop strategic partnerships with cultural groups, schools, and community organisations
Coordinate volunteer programs that enrich experiences for older people
Leadership Responsibilities:
Lead and inspire a dedicated wellness team with 7-day service coverage
Implement values-based recruitment processes for wellness team members
Drive continuous improvement through resident voice and collaboration
Ensure all wellness staff maintain competency-based training requirements
What You'll Bring
Essential Qualifications & Competencies:
Certificate IV in Leisure & Health or equivalent (minimum requirement)
Demonstrated person-centered care delivery
Proven leadership and team management capability
Passion for engaging older people with dementia and memory support needs
High emotional intelligence with genuine empathy and self-awareness
Solid computer skills
Cultural safety training and trauma-informed care principles
Current First Aid certification, or willing to obtain
Current Aged Care Worker Screening Check, or willing to obtain
