The Human Rights Branch is seeking applications from suitable candidates to fill the position of Senior Director, Restorative Justice Unit (RJU).
The ACT’s world leading Restorative Justice Scheme recently celebrated its 20-year anniversary. Over that period, the Scheme has offered trauma-informed, restorative justice services to victims/persons harmed by an offence, those responsible, and their respective communities. Since November 2018, victims of any offence (in ACT legislation) can access restorative justice.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the RJU into the future and make a significant leadership contribution to the community.
The Senior Director is responsible for the effective operation of the RJ Scheme ensuring adherence to, and fulfilment of the purpose and aims of the Crimes (Restorative Justice) Act 2004 and to the Crimes (Restorative Justice) Sexual and Family Violence Guidelines 2018.
The Senior Director will bring strong leadership skills to manage a team of staff to deliver restorative justice services. They will be focused on building and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement within the RJU and will have a strong understanding of the criminal justice system and restorative justice.
The Senior Director requires excellent communication and negotiation skills and the ability to provide high quality advice to a diverse range of criminal justice system stakeholders, senior executives and ministers in a fast-paced work environment.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:
- Degree in criminology and/or social or behavioural sciences or related field is highly desirable.
- Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.
