Emanate Technology is partnering with a mid-sized federal department in their search for a Solution Architect who will play a key role in the ongoing cyber uplift and modernisation of their technology landscape.
This position will suit a strategic thinker with strong technical background in Apps/Cloud and will be responsible for selecting fit for purpose technologies across service development and delivery. The successful candidate will actively guide the design, implementation, and retirement of legacy technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the evaluation, design, and direction of application ecosystems and domain architectures aligned with the program’s transformation objectives.
• Build and maintain an understanding of the departments current IT environment
• Provide hands-on leadership and implementation support where required, with a pragmatic and delivery-focused approach.
• Engage collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including project leads, technical architects, developers, and business stakeholders to deliver dynamic and future-ready ICT solutions.
• Assess risks and opportunities within the technology environment and formulate strategies to mitigate issues and enhance performance.
• Champion the adoption of contemporary practices and emerging technologies to uplift service delivery and operational effectiveness.
• Contribute to governance processes and ensure alignment with applicable policies, standards, and regulatory frameworks.

Experience Required:

• Extensive experience managing complex IT environments and enterprise platforms within federal government or similarly regulated public sector settings.
• Proven ability to navigate government-specific technology frameworks, security protocols, and compliance obligations.
• Track record of leading IT transformation initiatives, including application portfolio rationalisation, platform lifecycle management, and integration of legacy and modern technologies.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work across policy, technical, vendor, and executive domains.
• Capability to identify and address technical risks, foster innovation, and deliver practical, scalable solutions.

Desirable:

• Knowledge around key security frameworks, including essential 8, ISM and DSPF is highly desirable.
