ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Senior Technical Business Analyst to be based in our Melbourne office. This role plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions across a wide range of projects across Australia and New Zealand and reports to the Lead Business Analyst.
This role is responsible for capturing and translating complex business requirements into clear, actionable deliverables for technical teams. The Senior Technical Business Analyst streamlines requirements using AI-technology to gather and enhance the creation of high-quality design documentation, improving efficiency, accuracy, and consistency throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential duties:
Collaborate with stakeholders to capture and clarify business objectives and requirements.
Use AI-driven tools to streamline requirement gathering and documentation, improving efficiency and reducing errors.
Analyse complex business processes to identify gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Translate business needs into clear functional specifications and solution recommendations.
Ensure proposed solutions align with strategic priorities, compliance standards, and operational goals.
Facilitate workshops, interviews, and AI-enabled discovery sessions to validate and refine requirements.
Act as a liaison between business teams and technical specialists, ensuring shared understanding and smooth delivery.
Maintain accurate project documentation, including decisions, changes, and approvals.
Support testing and implementation phases by clarifying requirements and addressing issues.
Lead or contribute to multiple projects, ensuring delivery within agreed scope, timeline, and budget.
Other duties:
Champion best practices in requirements management by introducing frameworks, templates, and standards across projects.
Conduct impact analysis for proposed changes, assessing downstream effects on systems, processes, and stakeholders.
Facilitate change management activities, helping teams adapt to new solutions, processes, or technologies.
Monitor and track requirement changes throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring traceability and alignment with scope.
Evaluate and recommend process automation opportunities, leveraging AI and emerging technologies to drive efficiencies.
Contribute to continuous improvement of BA practices, sharing lessons learned and refining methodologies.
Education & Experience
Essential:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree highly regarded).
Professional certifications such as CCBA, Six Sigma, OCEB 2, or CSM are desirable.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Business Analyst or in a lead role.
Strong experience working across enterprise systems, integrations, and digital transformation projects.
Proven ability to gather, interpret, and translate the explicit and implicit needs of diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience producing key project documentation (e.g., business cases, requirements summaries, and functional specifications).
Familiarity with project management principles; formal PM experience is advantageous.
Proficient in Jira, Confluence, and skilled with design and collaboration tools such as Visio, Miro, or Figma.
Business Analysis certification (e.g., CBAP) preferred, with strong proficiency in business process modelling and solution design.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, able to convey ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Other:
Hands-on experience with AI-driven tools or analytics platforms to support modern business analysis practices.
Experience collaborating with solution architects and technical leads to align business needs with architectural standards.
Experience facilitating executive workshops and strategy sessions, influencing senior leaders and decision-makers.
Experience in mentoring or leading junior Business Analysts, contributing to capability uplift across the team.

Experienced in Waterfall and Agile project delivery methodologies, with the ability to introduce innovative BA practices.
Knowledgeable in BA methodologies and frameworks (e.g., BABOK, BPMN, IIBA) and committed to sharing expertise with peers.
Other:
Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Excel advanced functions) to support decision-making.
Skilled in stakeholder management and facilitation techniques to handle conflicting priorities and build consensus.
Strong understanding of change management principles and the ability to guide stakeholders through transitions.
