Senior/Lead Business Analyst – Energy/Utilities Sector

We are seeking an experienced Senior/Lead Business Analyst with deep expertise in the Energy and Utilities sector to join a dynamic, forward-thinking team.

This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for driving end-to-end project delivery across strategic reform and transformation initiatives.

In this position, you will partner closely with senior stakeholders to unpack complex business challenges, define actionable solutions, and align business needs with effective technology outcomes.

You will lead a team of Business Analysts through all phases of delivery, ensuring strategic clarity, quality, and measurable impact.

Your proven analytical and problem-solving skills will be key to delivering high-value results within tight timeframes and across diverse programs of work.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership & Guidance: Lead, coach, and provide quality oversight to a team of Business Analysts, ensuring consistency in analysis, documentation, and stakeholder engagement.
• Discovery & Problem Definition: Partner with business units to identify challenges, define opportunities, and translate complex requirements into clear, actionable deliverables.
• Workshop Facilitation: Design and facilitate collaborative workshops, synthesising insights into structured recommendations and solution options.
• Prioritisation & Project Sizing: Oversee initiative scoping and prioritisation based on business value, feasibility, and regulatory importance.
• High-Level Requirements & Market Analysis: Guide the team in developing structured requirements and conducting market scans aligned with future-state architecture.
• Business Case Development: Lead the preparation of business cases and idea briefs to secure executive endorsement and funding.
• End-to-End Delivery: Drive requirements through to implementation, ensuring traceability, quality outcomes, and benefits realisation.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, to influence decisions and drive alignment.
• Governance & Quality Assurance: Uphold business analysis governance and documentation standards to ensure alignment with enterprise frameworks and architecture.

Experience & Skills

• Tertiary qualification in Business, Finance, or a related field, with 7+ years’ experience as a Senior or Lead Business Analyst.
• Proven track record in the Energy, Utilities, Gas, or Electricity sector, ideally supporting regulatory reform or network transformation programs.
• Skilled in business case development and executive reporting to secure investment and sponsorship.
• Strong experience leading and mentoring Business Analysts in hybrid Agile/Waterfall environments.
• Experience/Familiarity with SAP IS-U and enterprise-level business systems within the Energy or Utilities domain.
• Advanced stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership and regulatory bodies.
• Demonstrated expertise in process mapping, current/future state analysis, and solution evaluation.
• Exceptional documentation and presentation skills, including PowerPoint, Dashboards, and Roadmaps.
• Experience working with collaboration tools such as MS Teams, Jira, Trello, and Confluence.
