About the opportunity

Facilitate effective and safe field operations, providing day-today operational support, teaching support and relevant training to staff and students. Provide strategic planning, project management, asset management and ensure compliance with relevant UTAS and statutory Work Health and Safety Regulations and Codes of Practice.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage day-to-day field and fleet operations ensuring effective coordination, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Support fieldwork safety through risk assessments, inductions, training coordination, and development of safety procedures and materials.
  • Maintain vehicles, trailers, and field equipment, including booking systems, servicing coordination, and monthly reporting.
  • Lead, coach and mentor direct report to achieve set goals and objectives.
  • Support strategic planning, budgeting, and process improvement across operations and technical teams, including asset management and team coverage.

­What we’re looking for:

  • Combination of extensive relevant work experience and/or education/training.
  • Significant experience in providing technical field support, developing and implementing risk assessments, safe working practices and standard operating protocols.
  • Ability to analyse and solve complex technical and non-technical problems. Experience with remote area communications and managing specialised off-road vehicles will be advantageous.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational and computer skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively and independently.
  • Current Driver’s License, First Aid training and Registration to Work with Vulnerable People.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $116,872 comprising base salary within the range of $92,120 to $99,891 plus 17% superannuation.
