YHA Cairns Central is ideally situated in the bustling centre of Cairns, boasting 209 beds across 59 rooms, all set in a relaxed ambiance with expansive outdoor living areas and verdant tropical flora. It's an excellent base for venturing into the extraordinary convergence of two World Heritage wonders: the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest. Immerse yourself in the reef's dazzling marine life through scuba diving or snorkelling, unveiling the breathtaking coral habitats. Meanwhile, Mission Beach provides a perpetual summer atmosphere in a tranquil coastal town, renowned for sightings of the rare cassowary.

About the role:

The Maintenance Officer works closely with the Property Manager and our Facilities team to ensure our properties are maintained and presented in the highest possible standard. This is a part time position offering a minimum of 15 hours per week up to 38. This will include;

• Performing thorough weekly building and facility inspections (or daily inspections as requested)
• Liaising with the Property Manager or Building & Facilities Managers to initiate and schedule project works, preventative maintenance, and corrective maintenance
• General handyperson work to support the business
• Maintaining the swimming pool, including testing and dosing chemical levels (where applicable)
• Completing and maintaining inspection, safety, and maintenance reports and records
