About the role
selectability has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Officer to join the team. selectability, a reputable aged care provider, is providing support in the Lower Gulf of North Queensland. The Maintenance Officer is responsible for ensuring a tidy, presentable workplace and to ensure that clean and reliable transport is available to enhance community access to selectability’s high- quality aged care and residential services. The maintenance Officer will work across all of selectability’s Lower Gulf Aged Care facilities.
This position requires a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for older persons and promoting their independence while respecting the dignity and cultural backgrounds. The Maintenance Officer collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care services that meet the unique needs and challenges faced by seniors in regional and remote areas.

About you
To be successful you must:
- flexible to work across a 24/7 roster
- have a positive attitude
- possess clear and effective communication skills
- have an understanding of the Aged Care Quality Standards
- experience working in a team environment
- ability to work independently and effectively manage time
- be able to follow policies and procedures at all times
- be able to work with culturally and linguistically diverse communities and individuals
- be able to rotate across multiple facilities
Role requirements
- a trade qualification would be a distinct advantage, however not essential
- handyman experience or a history of performing a similar maintenance role
- experience in people transportation and demonstrated skills in vehicle maintenance
- a clean driving record, with demonstrated driving experience, including knowledge and understanding of road rules
- experience in commercial gardening/ and or a landscape role
- computer literacy in Microsoft suite, or willingness to learn
- previous experience working in remote areas (highly desirable)
- current Flu vaccination - recommended
- current Covid vaccination - recommended
- national criminal history police check (completed in the last 12 months)
- a current minimum P1 "C" class Queensland drivers licence
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or the ability to obtain)
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module 'Quality, Safety & You' completion certificate
